Ella’s
Sonnet
The
little things are so important, many times, yes, that’s been said,
The
kindly gesture, simple smile, can so enormously impress,
We
underestimate their power profound, as many of us would confess,
To
stir the soul, evoke emotion; smooth the road on which we tread.
This
tiny, wondrous beauty, Ella, gift to us for so few hours,
Touched
us in so many ways, as on our hearts she placed her hand,
To
give us comfort as we sought to figure out, to understand,
The
reasons for her stay so brief, in spite of all our God’s great powers.
‘Tis
joy that we should feel for her, for she now gazes on God’s face,
Now
in heaven she’s attained a state of holy, true perfection,
See,
she smiles, and waves to us, inviting us in her direction,
Hoping
we can one day join her in that restful, wondrous place.
Oh
dearest Ella, we’re so thankful, for your brief but wondrous touch,
Please
know that ‘til the end of time we’ll love and miss you very much.
